Today Mother Teresa of Calcutta will be canonized by Pope Francis which means that the criteria for becoming a saint have been met. There are 4 steps: 1. Request for Canonization; 2. Determination; 3. Beatification; 4. Canonization. Although most people think that it is extremely rare to be canonized it is interesting to note that since I was born, 655 have been made saints:
Pontificate of Pius XII (5)
Pontificate of John XXIII (10)
Pontificate of Paul VI (84)
Pontificate of John Paul II (483)
Pontificate of Benedict XVI (45)
Pontificate of Francis (28 – 8 (7 after Mother Teresa) pending)
Anyway, moving swiftly along. Who would have thought last week that our beloved Ricky would have gone through such a dreadful ordeal? I took this as another reminder that we have to recognize that we are not in control here – we never know what is going to happen. As Heraclitus (c. 535 – c. 475 BC) who lived more than 2000 years ago said, “The only thing certain is change.” Actually Heraclitus said a lots of really amazing things including: “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” This morning I wanted to continue with the topic we addressed last week: letting go. How many are familiar with Mastin Kipp or the Daily Love?
Mastin Kipp created The Daily Love in 2005 under the original name “Thoughts for the Day”. Kipp embarked upon a journey in 2004 to find his true purpose and figure out the techniques to best manifest Highest Potential. Along the way he figured there must have been other people who have come before him who’ve were met with the same challenges he was facing to find true happiness and inner peace.
Mastin opened up Google and started searching. He found that all people from all parts of History and all walks of life had different morsels of wisdom to offer Mastin on his journey. He found a common thread shared by: philosophers, artists, authors, mystics, religious leaders, inventors, entrepreneurs, musicians, politicians, athletes, actors, polymaths, prophets, media moguls and every day people alike. His search drove him deeper into reading book after book after book, attending seminars, soaking up the wisdom traditions and always looking deeper for more insight on how to improve the human condition.
Mastin discovered an inspirational buffet of knowledge and started combining all of these teachings into his own life. Shortly, he thought it would be fun to share them with his friends on MySpace and started posting bulletins. That evolved into sharing the quotes on Facebook and through email. A friend pestered Mastin to start up a Twitter account, and he did reluctantly.
In August of 2009, after almost a year of posting quotes on Twitter and sending emails, Kim Kardashian suggested to her over 2 million followers that they should follow @TheDailyLove. Over night, The Daily Love went from 1,000 followers to 10,000 and now has over 300,000 followers on Twitter and is growing!
The Daily Love blends wisdom with style and delivers a daily email and Twitter messages for a fast paced lifestyle.

If You Let It Go, It’ll All Get Done! SWEAR!
by Mastin KippEditor’s Note from David Arenson: The Daily Love’s inspirational Mastin Kipp offers stylish modern-day wisdom for a fast-paced life. Letting go (detachment) is an essential step in Deepak Chopra’s 7 spiritual laws of success. Surrender to the moment…
“The last, if not the greatest, of the human freedoms: to choose their own attitude in any given circumstance.” Bruno Bettelheim
I am very present to the idea that if you let go, it all gets done.
Now I’m not talking about being lazy. Anyone who knows me knows I am an extremely hard worker. What I’m talking about is letting go of the outcome. For many years I felt like Scrat – you know what I’m talking about, the poor character “Scrat” in the “Ice Age” movie series. He can never get the Acorn, and if he does, he totally messes is up. This video is one of many that capture the zany experience of Scrat. But many times in my own life I’ve felt like Scrat, always chasing and never having much to show for it.
That is because I had forgotten one of the fundamental tools in the Spiritual took kit – detachment.
“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man. Heraclitus ”My friend Ryland and I have a saying that we hear from Krishnamurti – it says, “I just don’t mind how it goes”. And when you are in that mindset, disaster isn’t disaster; what you have is abundance and where you are is perfect. This isn’t to say you shouldn’t work, try and do. But, if you are attached to a certain outcome, you may be missing the bigger picture in your life.
The Uni-verse has plans for you that you are not yet now aware of. And when you try and try, the world is beyond your winning, not because The Uni-verse is unfair, but because it has a better option for you that is beyond the struggle. Struggle is different than work. We all know that faith without works is dead. But faith in the hard times and faith when you’re not getting what you want isn’t faith, unless you trust.
“What you still need to know is this: before a dream is realized, the Soul of the World tests everything that was learned along the way. It does this not because it is evil, but so that we can, in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we’ve learned as we’ve moved toward that dream. That’s the point at which, as we say in the language of the desert, one ‘dies of thirst just when the palm trees have appeared on the horizon. Every search begins with beginner’s luck. And every search ends with the victor’s being severely tested.” Paulo Coelho , from his best-selling book The Alchemist.
Some of the things I REALLY wanted to happen in my life and I prayed and prayed to happen, just didn’t happen. Sometimes the greatest acts of Grace are unanswered prayers. If you are so attached to a certain outcome that it gives you pain, anxiety and worry – that is a sign that your thoughts are not aligned with the Will for The Uni-verse in your life. When you experience stress, anxiety and worry – those are thoughts based in fear and fear is not what we’ve come to be.
When we detach, when we let go, when we allow something even greater to be that we didn’t see coming – THAT – is how we step into a miraculous life. I could have never imagined my life ten years ago being what it is today – not even three years ago. I had my plans, my intentions and my desires and most of them didn’t come true. And now I’m glad. I’m glad that certain prayers weren’t answered. I’m glad that certain people said no to me. I’m glad that things are going the way that they are because it’s beyond my wildest dreams.
“The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek. Fear of the unknown is our greatest fear. Many of us would enter a tiger’s lair before we would enter a dark cave. While caution is a useful instinct, we lose many opportunities and much of the adventure of life if we fail to support the curious explorer within us.” ~ Joseph Campbell
I know you work hard; we all do. But today – is there a person, a situation or a prayer that you can just surrender? And allow The Uni-verse to show you a way that you had not yet considered? Can you see this moment as perfect? Can you see this moment as full of everything you need? Do you have the courage and humility to let go? If so, a world of magic is waiting for you. It’s one thing to be a part of the rat race, but I prefer to be pushed by angels. What about you…?

“Let today be a day where you take nothing for granted. For life is fleeting, fragile and precious and can change on a whim. Say all the things you really want to say to your loved ones today, say the things you would regret should they pass on and your words remain unspoken. Rejoice, for you and they are alive today – and should you or them pass on to unknown shores, rejoice even more for you have a wonderful love story to tell.” – Jackson Kiddard, author & polymath.
